Purpose of the site

This blog will detail 1,000 video hikes in Southern California. By Southern California, I am drawing a line from San Luis Obispo to the Nevada Border. Anything south of that line will be declared "Southern California". In a way, it is a personal challenge to do so many hikes. Mainly, however, it is my way of showcasing how many hiking opportunities there really are right in our own geographic back yard. As a blog, it serves as a companion piece to my Youtube channel "Mike On The Trail". It is also a work in progress, as I don't actually have 1,000 edited videos completed. This will take effort for quite some time before it is declared done. Even then, there will still be more out there. Here's to hiking and all the positive effects it has had on my life...and possibly yours!

Summary
Petit Hill is essentially a neighborhood hill in the city of Moreno Valley. It is quite an impressive one, though, adjacent to Interstate 10.  Parking is at Walmart, which is in the shadow of the hill.  To get to it, I crossed the street and utilized a utility road leading to a water tank.
On the lower summit.
I turned right there and picked up a trail that looped from right to left to go in the direction of Petit Hill.  A dirt road leads in the direction of the hill, but use trails were required to climb up its side.  It has a double summit, so I took turns at both high points.
Summit benchmark.

It is a nice promontory for taking a look at the city views.  However, it is a very short hike, with the only real difficulty being the final bit of climb to the top.

Summit views.
So when ready, I returned to Walmart to complete a quick but worthwhile outing in the Inland Empire.  This hike is best appreciated when combining it with another IE hike.  Since it is a short one, other nearby hikes can get combined with it for a comprehensive hiking day in the Inland Empire.
